There’s something magical about this little ski run at Lake Louise. The path is narrow and winding, a playful rollercoaster through snow-covered trees. You’re lost in the rhythm of the trail, enjoying this intimate little adventure and the quiet beauty of the forest, when suddenly, the trees part and the world opens up. There it is: the breathtaking expanse of Lake Louise’s iconic valley, framed by towering peaks. It’s a moment that stops you in your tracks, a view so stunning it feels like an unexpected gift. In this painting I attempt to capture that awe - the joy of the journey and the magic of the vista.

Kananaskis Morning
18" x 24"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$845
It was the middle of the Covid lockdown, and I was an artist stuck in my residence. The days seemed endless, and as an active person who hates sitting still, I was in desperate need of an escape. When my friends and I decided to head out to K-Country to do some cross-country skiing, I was all in! As per Covid rules, we drove out individually to meet in the parking lot, so I took advantage of my time alone in my car. The music was blaring, I was excited about the anticipation of the day, and the views were mind-blowing. When I look at this painting, it’s a reminder of a very special time, when I had the opportunity to take stock of the more important things in life, and a reminder not to sweat the small stuff.

The morning light dances across the snow, casting long shadows and warming the trees as the sun peeks over the mountains. There’s a quiet excitement in the air—the promise of a day filled with possibilities. The untouched snow in the foreground invites you to step in, leave your tracks, and discover what’s around the corner. Whether it’s a snowy meadow or a winding trail through the trees, this scene speaks to me - Come see what’s out here, there’s more to explore!

Windblown Slope

Sometimes the beauty of nature is not about blue skies and magnificent vistas. I find that being on a mountain top exposed to bitter temperatures, high winds and blinding snowstorms makes me feel alive. It reminds me that ‘this too shall pass’, and blue skis and magnificent vistas will come again. And when they do, I will appreciate them even more.

Jasper Parkway
30" x 36"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$1640
When I drive along the Jasper Parkway, I always feel like I’m traveling into a world that time forgot, as the mountains, laden with glaciers, tower over the road. This little creek caught my eye as a reminder of how colorful and alive the world can be in the winter. The mountain wall in the background glows with sunlight, and it feels like a quiet giant watching over the scene. I couldn’t resist painting the dance of delicate sunlight over the moraine-colored water from the glaciers - a reminder of the power and beauty shaped over time.

Carpe Diem
24" x 36"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$1395
“Carpe Diem” is the challenge we face every morning when we wake up with the uncertainty of things to come. Sometimes we greet the day with enthusiasm, others may be met with challenge, fear, boredom, hope, joy. This painting is about taking charge of one’s circumstances. It’s about taking on the challenge of hiking to the top of a mountain. It’s about the humbling feeling when looking at a grandiose vista and realizing how small we are in the scheme of life. It is about not waiting until tomorrow to do something, but to “seize the day” when we can.

Mountain Air
24" x 30"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$1150
This waterfall, frozen in time, hangs in a section of Mount Rundle between Banff and Canmore. What I love about this scene, is that it’s hidden in plain sight. At a glance, when driving from Banff to Canmore, we are treated to the spectacular Mount Rundle that feels like a small mountain range, 12 kilometres long. And in the distance, we see ‘The Three Sisters’ peaks. Unless you’re really looking, you can miss the little gems embedded within Mount Rundle. This little waterfall is a small piece of the expansive mountain, but it captured me just the same.

Race Day at Castle Mountain. Enroute to the hill I took in the stunning sunrise, watching the warm morning light wash over the mountains and hills. Can I remember the race results? No. But the image of the morning will remain with me forever.

Frozen in Time
11" x 14"
Oil on Canvas (framed)
$495
There’s something magical about a frozen waterfall. The way the deep blues and purples hide in the shadows, while the sunlight sets the snow and rock aglow with warm oranges and reds. It looks as if the water froze mid-stream, caught in the act of tumbling down the rocks. This little scene holds a quiet joy—a frozen snapshot in time.

The arrival of spring is a celebration in the mountains, as the ice disappears off mountain lakes and the brilliance of the moraine blue waters sing. My morning cycling adventure brought me to this beautiful spot, where I had the opportunity to sit and take in the beauty. I took this all in with awe and gratitude for living in this spectacular place.
